Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

XSCF commands state "not found" when issued after platform firmware (aka XCP) upgrade has been performed.

Example:

XSCF> showstatus
shell: showstatus: command not found

XSCF> showdscp
shell: showdscp: command not found

Changes

The system's XCP firmware was recently updated.

Cause

During an XCP upgrade, the ACTIVE XSCF is failed over once the STANDBY XSCF XCP upgrade completes. Commands were being issued on the STANDBY XSCF, instead of the ACTIVE XSCF.

NOTE: This issue could also occur if the previously ACTIVE XSCF failed over for some other reason  (which may need to be investigated as well).

Additionally if the user mistakenly logged into the STANDBY XSCF, expecting it was the main, and ran XSCF commands.

NOTE: this is a different issue than that described in: XSCF commands fail with 'Permission denied' error message (Doc ID 1547333.1)

Solution

Log into the ACTIVE XSCF.

As mentioned previously, most XSCF commands will not run on the Standby (SPARE) XSCF.

You can verify the roles once on the ACTIVE (MAIN) XSCF by running "version -c xcp"

EXAMPLE:

XSCF> version -c xcp -v
XSCF#0 (Active )
XCP0 (Reserve): 1116
OpenBoot PROM : 02.32.0000
XSCF : 01.11.0006
XCP1 (Current): 1116
OpenBoot PROM : 02.32.0000
XSCF : 01.11.0006
XSCF#1 (Standby) <===============this is the Spare or Standby XSCF
XCP0 (Current): 1116
OpenBoot PROM : 02.32.0000
XSCF : 01.11.0006
XCP1 (Reserve): 1116
OpenBoot PROM : 02.32.0000
XSCF : 01.11.0006
OpenBoot PROM BACKUP
#0: 02.32.0000
#1: 02.29.0000
