Sun StorageTek SL500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This document assists with converting lport to nport from the library end.

Cause

There is no specific problem with the library.  This procedure needs to be followed to ensure the compatibility of the Tape library and FC switch.

Solution

Switched Fabric: A switched fabric provides dynamic interconnections between nodes and multiple, simultaneous Fibre Channel connections for the network. If the library is connected to a Fibre Channel switch or fabric-capable host, the library configures itself as a switched fabric topology and can support up to 16 million ports logged into the fabric.

Note: The switched fabric topology is recommended for the library.

All settings from the SL500 end looks good. The SL500 looks to be configured as a soft address of 126 and can log into the switch as a fabric device.
If you force it on the switch side , it should log in as a fabric device.

You can try to force the switch port using "portcfglport" command.
