Fenced power supply

Solution

Two methods to confirm error and generate an ATR to facilitate repair:

METHOD 1
Connect to the VSM and log into the machine.
Navigate to FRU status screen
Examine the status of FRUs CU.0.PDU0 and CU.0.PDU1:one should be flagged as fenced.
Make note of the exact FRU location that is fenced and the part number of the FRU.
Create Field Task to have the power supply replaced.
Inform customer that the VSM lost one power supply.
The VSM has a failed power supply however the redundant power supply is functioning and there is no impact to production.

End method 1

METHOD 2
NOTE: IF you do not have access to ZENOBIA use SPLAT to crunch files See KM: 1399676.1
1. Get a full set of base files from the VTSS using standard processes.
2. Place files on zenobia using standard filing conventions.
3. Run the crunch_it all script.
   EX: crunch_it all <enter>
4. Review hic.dmp file
   EX: less hic.dmp <enter>
5. Review hic.dmp file specifically the PSA section.
You should see a Fencing action against CU.0.PDU0 or PDU1 depending on
   which power supply failed.
EX: Found PSA Action has taken place
       --------------------------------
       11/09/18 15:06:34 PSA 0x7e98 INIT FENCE 0105 27 - CU.0.PDU0

6. Review crnt_fru.lst file to identify the part number of the defective
   power supply.
7. Create Field Task to have the power supply replaced.
8. Inform customer that the VSM lost one power supply.
The VSM has a failed power supply however the redundant power supply
is functioning and there is no impact to production.

End method 2
