Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Encountered the following event on Exadata InfiniBand Switch:

HARDWARE FAULT: Component error detected. Component Name: /SYS/CHASSIS_STATUS

Cause

Collect an ILOM snapshot (<Note 1062544.1>) from the InfiniBand Switch and check if shows faulty.

If there are no faults then run the below commands and check if the Environment test PASSED and switch is healthy:

# env_test
# showunhealthy
# sminfo
# getmaster

If there is no indication of fault visible in env_test or in showunhealthy output then you seem to hit unpublished Bug: 18123353.

Solution

This errors can be safely ignored. Fix for this problem is included in firmware 2.1.6.

Exadata Storage Server software 11.2.3.3.0 includes InfiniBand switch firmware release 2.1.3-4 and hence the fix is not present.
