Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The following Event is generated by the Slammer:

2014-03-14T07:16:15.520     INFORMATIONAL   PSG_DMS_EVENT_MA_LOCSW               /Slammer1/1    /Slammer1/1

Cause

This event occurs when the Management Locator Switch, labeled "ACK", on the back of the Ax600 slammer is depressed.  By itself, the problem is harmless but should be resolved to clear the event.

The original purpose was to be used as a way to identify a system, but this functionality was never implemented.

The recessed ACK button is located on the upper left side of the PIM (Private Interface Module) just to the right of the recessed PWR button.

Solution

Possible causes:

  1. ACK button may have inadvertently been depressed.
  2. Private Interface Module.
  3. The Slammer Motherboard:
    1. Bent pin
    2. Damage component
    3. SIO (SCSI IO) chip

Identify and replace the proper component.
