Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After poweroff of array subsequent poweron boot displayed the following messages:

WARNING: Could not find expander device.
Error encountered during stage4.
Configuration information maybe invalid.
Rollback from GRUB menu.
Contact your authorized support resource.

Then the array dropped to the bash prompt.

Monitoring the serial port during a power cycle event shows no service processor boot messages.

There is no net management connectivity.

Cause

It was found that the service processor was faulty.

The system bios could not obtain the needed configuration information from the service processor.

Solution

 The motherboard was replaced as the service processor is on the motherboard with the replacement process followed.

Array booted ok after motherboard replaced.
