Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1632787.1 : Oracle Hardware Management Pack (OHMP) is not needed on Exadata
Created from <SR 3-8120073391> Applies to:Exadata X3-2 Hardware - Version All Versions and laterExadata X3-8 Hardware - Version All Versions and later Exadata X4-2 Hardware - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsWhen connected to the ILOM web interface for either compute nodes or cell servers, the following message may be displayed: Storage Status: Not Available
Comprehensive System monitoring is not available. Ensure the host is running with the Hardware Management Pack. For download details go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/servermgmt/downloads/index.htm
CauseThis message is referring to the Oracle Hardware Management Pack (OHMP) which is a monitoring tool used for Oracle X86 Systems. However OHMP is not installed on Exadata compute nodes or cell servers by default. SolutionThis message in the ILOM console is expected on Exadata and can be ignored.
Exadata uses different mechanisms for monitoring itself: On the storage cell servers, the MS process monitors locally attached hard / flash disks and alerts on any failures. Pre 12.1.2.1.0 uses the exadata_mon_hw_asr.pl script monitors locally attached hard disks and alerts on any failures. 12.1.2.1.0 and later uses the MS service monitors locally attached hard disks and alerts on any failures.
