Symptoms

FSE connected his laptop to a ZFS appliance service processor net management port to upgrade the service processor ILOM BIOS/firmware.  He could not ping the SP even though /SP/network appeared to be set up properly

Changes

 On a normal array when a show /SP/network is run on the service processor from the serial console, we find the

service processor managementport parameter is set to :

       managementport = /SYS/SP/NET0

On the array with the problem we see that management is connected to

       managementport = /SYS/MB/NET0

This actually correlates with igb0.  So, they are using igb0 for ILOM management

Cause

Someone changed the service processor /SP/network managementport parameter to NET0.  Upon inspection, the FSE found that both nodes of the cluster had network cables connected to NET0 and the customer was managing the SP from there.

Solution

 Connect the laptop to the NET0 port on the back of the ZFS appliance.
