Flex has always done an inspection on these, and it is highly doubtful they ever ship one bent. We have seen DHL mix up defectives with FGI (Finished Goods Inventory) and ship broken robots. If the field receives one this way, they need to look at the box tape to see if it was factory sealed with water activated brown tape. If it has clear tape over the top, it has been opened before and a clear indicator it is not a new repair.

Symptoms

SL500 robot interlock bent.

Seeing a lot of units with bent Interlock arms.

Cause

Flextronics Hypothesis: Interlock gets bent by FE or customers that don't open the door properly.

Solution

Refer to the attached document for further details and pictures concerning the damaged front door interlock safety mechanism.
