Symptoms"virtinfo -a" command in primary domain is returning "unknown" values for Control Domain and Chassis Serial# info The expected output would normally look like the following
root@t5-8-sin06-a:~# virtinfo -a Domain role: LDoms control I/O service root Domain name: primary Domain UUID: 40cd6070-cb46-e0e4-d6e0-eeac437e6ea6 Control domain: t5-8-sin06-a Chassis serial#: AK00085XXX root@t5-8-sin06-a:~# In this case the output of the "virtinfo -a" would look like the following jack@t5-8-sin06-a:~$ virtinfo -a Domain role: LDoms control I/O service root Domain name: primary Domain UUID: 40cd6070-cb46-e0e4-d6e0-eeac437e6ea6 Control domain: Unknown Chassis serial#: Unknown jack@t5-8-sin06-a:~$
CauseThe ldoms agent on the control domain may not be running and needs to be restarted manually. The "virtinfo -a" needs the LDOMs agent to be running, when collecting chassis hardware information. SolutionSTEP 1. login to control or primary domain as a superuser
STEP 2. reset the LDOMs agent by manually disabling and re-enabling the sevice svcadm disable svc:/ldoms/agents:default
STEP 3. reconfirm that the LDOMs agent STATE ( online ) svcs svc:/ldoms/agents:default
STEP 4. rerun the command virtinfo -a
This issue is now fixed in Oracle Solaris 10 Patch 150107-03 (above) and Oracle Solaris 11.1 Oracle SRU 18.5 [version 0.5.11-0.175.1.18.0.5.0]
