ChangesReboot of ZFS appliance. Increase in number of snapshots since last reboot.
CauseAn increase of the number of configured shares and snapshots is likely to cause this.
In one particular instance, it was seen that a delay of 15 minutes occured when the system had 20000 snapshots defined.
SolutionThere is no problem here - this is expected behaviour if the symptoms are only present during a reboot.
Reducing the number of snapshots available will reduce the time taken for this process.
The explanation is that nas cache takes some time to read ZFS properties from the kernel and file information from the kernel into AKD address space.
