Symptoms

T5220 fails to poweron and loops with error messages

 

Example 1 

sc> poweron -c

The system will then loop with a spinning chevron outputting the above error and poweron does not complete.

In above example there are no D1 DIMMs installed and the bad DIMM is located in SYS/MB/CMP0/BR1/CH1/D0.

 

Example 2

sc> poweron -c

The system will then loop with a spinning chevron outputting the above error and poweron does not complete.

In above example notice the event "could not find key dimma", other events may report "could not find key dimmc" and the bad DIMM is located in /SYS/MB/CMP0/BR2/CH1/D0.

Cause

In example 1, the root cause is Bug 16738856: Wrong DIMM failed by POST and system fails to poweron

In example 2, the root cause is Bug 17593160: Faulty DIMM not disabled and does not allow poweron

 

Solution

Example 1 is resolved in Firmware 7.4.8 (147307-11: FIRMWARE: SPARC Enterprise T5120+T5220 - Sun System Firmware 7.4.8)

Example 2 is resolved in Firmware 7.4.8 (147307-11: FIRMWARE: SPARC Enterprise T5120+T5220 - Sun System Firmware 7.4.8)
