Cause

IBM LTO6s are Encryption capable and they will have Belisarius (Bel) Modules installed.
The purpose of this module in IBM LTOs is to multiplex the TTI & KMS signals to the IBM LTO 4, 5 & 6 drives and even though the Bel card is not actually multiplexing in our particular case, the code in this card  has been changed to increase the time out value to prevent bar code write failures, the reason for  intermittent I/O errors.

Solution

The recommendation is to install Bel code at  4.17.12.35,this is the latest.
It will be necessary to check out the timeout value when this code is loaded, it needs to be set to at least 60 Secs
