Applies to:

Oracle Key Manager - Version 2.3 and later
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
After customer upgraded their X2200 M2 server software from version 2.1.1 to 2.3 the server would not complete the boot up process. The boot stopped before trying to test the SCA6000 card. Rebooting did not help.

Symptoms

customer states SL24 Library is fine
KMA issue hanging on boot up

Changes

Customer tried to upgrade their X2200 M2 server software from version 2.1.1 to 2.3  After upgrade the server would not boot up all the way.

Cause

Someone went to the location of the KMA server and directly connected keyboard and monitor during the software upgrade and left the KVM cable connected when they left the site.

Solution

Since the boot process hung at the Solaris 10 banner and would not test the SCA6000 card to report the condition of the card, it was assumed the SCA6000 card might be bad.   Replacing the SCA6000 card had no affect.

A new disk drive was ordered assuming there was a problem with the software upgrade of the disk drive.

Replacing the disk drive did not change the symptom.

FE went to the location of the KMA, which is about ten miles from the KMA admin and discovered that the KVM cable, (keyboard and monitor) were still connected.

FE disconnected the KVM cable and the KMA server booted up with out a problem.
