Applies to:

Oracle Database Appliance X3-2 - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When trying to re-image an Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) node, the installation runs normally, but then hangs at 'Running post-install scripts' stage:

Hang Image

Cause

ODA servers have two mirrored RAID1 local hard disks.

The post-install process during reimaging will wait until the synchronization between the partitions of the two local hard disks are complete.

This sometimes looks like the reimaging process is stuck at 'Running post-install scripts' as shown above.

Solution

You can use ALT+F2 key combination to get to second console on ILOM and run the 'cat /proc/mdstat' command repeatedly to check the progress of the resynchronization similar to below.

rebuild_RAID

You can Also use the command

#watch -d cat /proc/mdstat

which will continuously output the progress.
