StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

1.59.302 code changes

5535, 2CAB

Changes

Changes put into 1.59.302 code:

FSC Synopsis
5535 Intermittent load failures with 5535 FSC will now initiate a library recovery procedure where the tape/s will automatically be re-inserted back into the drive by the library robot. 99.99% of the time this 2nd load attempt will succeed without any problems, jobs will no longer require operator intervention to recover from 5535 errors.

2CA8 This fixes the more significant issue seen when any T10KC drive is in the process of re-constituting sparse wrap data (FSA feature) and the drive gets interrupted by a DIA SNO (2CA8 in this case) and the end result prior to this change was a tape that could no longer be read to EOD by normal read operations. Now after such DIA SNO’s during re-constituting of sparse wrap data will leave the tape/s in a fully readable condition.

An improvement has been made in this code so that any failure to load microcode on a drive that has DPKM mode enabled will now clearly display on the VOP screen that the drive needs DPKM mode turned off for the code upgrade to be successful.

Cause

 Microcode problems.

Solution

Intermittent load failures with 5535 FSC on T10000C tape drive is addressed in code final version 3.62.109  please install minimum RC3.09.109.

This is also true for T10000D tape drives, future code version 4.09.109 will address this 5535 issue for a load retry.
