Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1616680.1 : T10000 - ASIA SNO 2BFF Reported and Generated a DUMP
FSC 2BFF can be triggered by many reasons but one of the is to exceed the maximum paths a STK T10000A/B can handle, which is 256. In this Document
Created from <SR 3-8417363331> Applies to:Sun StorageTek T10000B Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]Information in this document applies to any platform. When a dump has been generated by a drive STK T10000 A/B and reported the FSC 2BFF SNO - the drive can only accept 256 path logins. After that the drive will SNO with 2BFF FSC. This FSC is used for many different problems in the code so this is just one possibility. See bug 16853332. Look to see if a PLOGI is one of the last things that occurred before the SNO. Engage a L2 for this problem. In this case the host use to exceed the maximum paths allowed and many drives are reporting the same failure just for the same reason. SymptomsThe tape drive issued a dump on SNO (should not occur) FSC 2BFF which is an engineering trap. This FSC is the result of too many path logins. T10000A and T10000B drives support up to 256 path logins, after which the drive will SNO with 2BFF. CauseLimit of 256 paths exceeded on this drive. The most common cause is non-optimal fabric configuration where zoning includes unnecessarily many hosts per drive. SolutionIf this issue is causing significant disruption, the only solution is to reconfigure fabric zoning to prevent the drive from receiving too many path logins. Note that this drive behaviour is by design, therefore no other solution exists. However, the issue has a workaround which is rebooting the drive every so often to prevent it from reaching 256 path logins. Alternatively, upgrading to T10000C or T10000D drive will alleviate the issue as C/D drives support up to 512 path logins. Reference Bug 16853332
