Symptoms

SL3000 library goes to down state in SAMFS due to drive load failure reporting Sense Key = 04, ASC = 53, ASCQ = 00

Move retry failure between 2371 (Cell)  to 1005 (drive) but subsequent move was done properly.

HBC trace shows the same error on the same drive.

Changes

 No change has been applied.

Cause

No robotic errors are seen but SL3000 library SCSI code sends Sense Key = 04, ASC = 53, ASCQ = 00 as Hardware Error, Media Load/Eject Failed. "The library generates a hardware error when a load or eject fails to complete."

Solution

If repeating load failure with the same drive. Replace drive.

If repeating load failure with the same volume. Remove carts from production.
