Symptoms

IOM firmware upgrades will NOT complete.

Cause

The backend cabling diagram as shown in the ZS3-4 Quick Setup document for the ZS3-4 clustering setup has an error.

As can be seen in the attached picture of the problem section, the right side tray diagram has the cabling from each head

going to one set of IOMs such that the TOP set of IOMs are connected at both the top and bottom connections to head 1.

The BOTTOM set of IOMs have both sets of connections to head 2.

Solution

Ensure that each set of IOMs has a connection to each head.

For this right hand set of trays, configure the BOTTOM set of cables such that the HBA cable coming from the TOP head goes to the BOTTOM IOM in the BOTTOM tray.

Cable to the HBA cable from the BOTTOM head so that it goes to the TOP IOM in the BOTTOM tray.

This is effectively swapping those 2 cables around from the original diagram shown.
