The link is down or the Auto-negotiated link speed stays at 100 Mbit/s instead. This was seen in conjunction with certain switch models. ChangesThe symptom was reported with
CauseThis symptom is described in known issues: Bug 16673015 - X3-2 ixgbe 10GBASE-T link stays at 100FDX even if both sides advertise 1000FDX with base bug reference: Bug 15952813 - ixgbe twinville, link autonegotiation unstable when connected to 1Gb switch
SolutionIntel recommends to use a crossover cable to the switch if the symptom is observed. As a workaround in Solaris the following is available:
