Applies to:

Oracle Switch ES1-24 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

 Customer installs a new switch but can not create a new user account in the ILOM.

-> create /SP/users/test123 fs_privilege=15
create: Parent target does not exist
Create failed

When this happens then you also see the following when trying to run show
-> show
show: Invalid target /

Log out and log back in as root, show will work, but still can not create a new user.

Cause

 Suspect that the initial shadow and passwd file were some how  corrupted.

Solution

1. reboot the switch to regain access to ILOM
2. re-install 1.3.1.1 pkg (answer "yes" to PreserveConfig)  (Patch 17050841: ORACLE SWITCH ES1-24 1.3)
3. reboot again once the installation is complete

Now you should be able to create the new user account.
