Symptoms

Installation of Oracle Hardware Management Pack (Patch number 17256089) fails with the message:

Please see the installation log for details. Log file is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Oracle Hardware Management Pack\Oracle_Hardware_Management_Pack_InstallLOG.log

Cause

Microsoft updated InstallAnywhere 2012 changed the log file location.

Log file has been moved to  <installdir>\Oracle\Oracle Hardware Management Pack\setup\Logs

Solution

To install the Oracle Hardware Management Pack 2.2.7 correctly, please review the logs in the path <installdir>\Oracle\Oracle Hardware Management Pack\setup\Logs. Bear in mind to install successfully OHMP, you will need:

  • Install the Oracle Hardware Management Pack CLI Tools.
  • Enable IPMI Device Driver.

IPMI is the communication channel between OHMP and ILOM. IPMI requires an enabled Device Driver to operate correctly. This driver is not installed as part of Oracle Hardware Management Pack (OHMP). The driver is bundled since Windows 2003 R2, however may be disabled by the user.

Please refer the Oracle Hardware Management Pack release notes for the latest updates on issues, workarounds, specific to the OHMP software version being installed.
