Applies to:

Sun ZFS Storage 7320
7000 Appliance OS (Fishworks)
AK-2011.04.24.4.2

Symptoms

After a ZFS Storage 7320 cluster take over, the storage head node failed to come up.

It hung on below highlighted stage:

"SunOS Release 5.11 Version ak/generic@2011.04.24.4.2,1-2.28.1.1 64-bit

Copyright (c) 1983, 2010, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved."

Cause

The cause is a workflow that was run named 'Work around to beat clusteron timeout panic - 15758888'.

If this workflow has been run on a ZFSAA, it is possible that the system will behave in the some undesirable fashion, as we can see here.

Solution

In order to overcome this, please apply following workaround:

In etc/system file on this storage head, remove the line

set idle_cpu_use_hlt=0
