Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After the load and activation of 8.07 version firmware for the SL8500 and the subsequent reboot, there are no LED's lit on the HBC card and the reboot appears to have hung or failed.

Changes

Upgrading any version of library microcode would trigger this type of event.

Cause

The HBC card's inability to either read or write to the HBK card caused this problem.

Solution

Service Request must be opened via MOS to have the HBK card replaced.

Replace the HBK card and send back to Colorado via the NCAT system for additional RCA (Root Cause Analysis) until this issue is better understood.
