StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Multiple Robotic modules have been replaced.
KLM card was replaced and the problem remained.
Dumb Hub was placed between the library and the HBA with same problem.
Performed the factory reset per the KB with no change.

BUI is same as GUI
Browser user Interface - BUI
Graphical user Interface - GUI

Symptoms

The Ethernet Port 1 on the KLC card has gone bad as it can't start up during boot.

Port 1 is not recognized, it is not functional.

MAC Address is Corrupt or Missing, Unable to Log in to Port 1 on the Library.

Changes

N/A, problem could occur after a reboot.

Cause

The KLM flash stick is not functional.  The attempted mount for the idcard fails, leaving us without persistent memory to store any of the customer settings.  That's why the network port 1 fails to configure.

The telltale message in /var/log/messages is:

   Jul 22 10:58:20 SL150 logger: /etc/rc5.d/S10mountfs: - K_Idcard partition label not found

Solution

Check that the flash stick is seated in the KLM.

Replace "as it can't start up during boot" with "or has not been enabled".

Should the USB stick need replaced, currently the Base Unit would need to be ordered and the USB flash stick pulled from the KLM card of the CRU and swapped with the defective one in the original card.

7021880 [C] Base Chassis

After USB stick is replaced in SL150, the following message may occur.
Again, port 1 shows no MAC address, no default gateway and does not answer ping/HTTPS.

Go into the service port and configure port 1 using the remote BUI and reboot.
After doing this, the library will come up and Port 1 will be operational.
