The NAS Appliance is configured with several Active-Standby IPMP groups.

Symptoms

The NAS Appliance is configured with several Active-Standby IPMP groups.

I would expect that these IPMP groups would allow me to disconnect one of the interfaces involved without losing connectivity.

This is not what happens, if I disconnect one of the IPMP members, all members go in an error state and connectivity is lost.

Cause

Need to configure link-based detection on the IPMP interface.

Solution

Set link-based IPMP.

Set the interface addresses to 0.0.0.0 and set the IPMP network IP address to a valid address.
