Symptoms

Some T5x40 servers may experience SC Alert being logged in /var/adm/messages referring to low warning threshold being reached for V_IN_MAIN sensor on Power Supplies

May 12 04:11:26 hostname SC Alert: [ID 166851 daemon.error] Chassis | major: V_IN_MAIN at /SYS/PS1 has reached low warning threshold.
May 12 04:11:26 hostname SC Alert: [ID 935760 daemon.error] Chassis | major: V_IN_MAIN at /SYS/PS0 has reached low warning threshold.

Jul  6 14:53:11 hostname SC Alert: [ID 935760 daemon.error] Chassis | major: V_IN_MAIN at /SYS/PS0 has reached low warning threshold.

The status of V_IN_MAIN sensor for the Power Supply in 'prtdiag' output is set to 'warning (value)'

Cause

The issue is caused by defect in firmware where the high-line power requirement is enabled, however the low-line power should be allowed.

Solution

The fix for this is implemented in firmware 7.3.0 hence the solution is to upgrade the firmware at least to the revision mentioned.
It is always best to keep the system up-to-date (not only at the OS level, but also at the hardware's FW level), therefore upgrade the latest version of firmware is always highly recommended.
