Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The space allocated on the cell server root "/" is close to 80%.

Cause

Patch related files were not removed after patching. The directory also has logs with the states and markers used during the patch on the cell.

This information is pulled by the patchmgr utility at different stages of the patch:

# pwd
/root
# du -sh *
4.0K 00
8.0K attempted_deactivated_by_patch_griddisks.txt
8.0K backup-node.bash
27M cell_patch
68K dostep.sh
1.6G _patch_hctap_ <<<<<=======

Since these files may be needed for analysis if there is a problem with patching, they are not automatically removed after a successful patch application.

Solution

Please run the following command (as root user) from a database compute node to perform cleanup:

   patchmgr -cells filename.txt  -cleanup

where filename.txt contains the list of all cell servers where the cleanup is to be done.

Note: patchmgr is normally installed on the database compute nodes and is normally provided with the patches.
