Symptoms

Dependency error in OS upgrade while applying ODA patch 2.7.0.0.0

Cause

During upgrade to ODA 2.7.0.0.0, there is a dependency missing with cups-libs:

1:cups-1.3.7-30.el5.x86_64 from installed has depsolving problems
  --> Missing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-30.el5 is needed by package 1:cups-1.3.7-30.el5.x86_64 (installed)
 --> Running transaction check
 --> Processing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-30.el5 for package: cups
 ---> Package kernel.x86_64 0:2.6.18-194.32.1.0.1.el5 set to be erased
 --> Finished Dependency Resolution

1:cups-1.3.7-30.el5.x86_64 from installed has depsolving problems
   --> Missing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-30.el5 is needed by package 1:cups-1.3.7-30.el5.x86_64 (installed)
  Error: Missing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-30.el5 is needed by package 1:cups-1.3.7-30.el5.x86_64 (installed)
  You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
   You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
   package-cleanup --dupes
   rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
 The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package. ,

Solution

Removing the dependency of "cups" will clear the error - please run on both nodes:

# rpm -e cups

 Please see MOS Note Linux OS Service 'cups' (Doc ID 551270.1) for more details about this service.
