Symptoms

Solaris FMA reporting the following event : ereport.io.usb.epse

Aug 05 2013 22:19:11.271773292 ereport.io.usb.epse
nvlist version: 0
        class = ereport.io.usb.epse
        ena = 0xdb837c2f95201801
        detector = (embedded nvlist)
        nvlist version: 0
                version = 0x0
                scheme = dev
                cna_dev = 0x51ffb0750000002a
                device-path = /pci@340/pci@1/pci@0/pci@3/usb@0/hub@5/communications@2
        (end detector)

        __ttl = 0x1
        __tod = 0x51ffb45f 0x1032ee6c

This is indicating a stall event has occurred on an endpoint USB device - in this instance against the internal interface used for ethernet over USB (usbecm).

Cause

The USB device is not responding correctly.

Solution

The first step is to ensure the system is running at least SysFW 9.0.2.g to address bug 16105196 which is known to trigger this type of event.

If the fault persists with the new FW further analysis is required and a Service Request should be opened.
