Applies to:

Sun Virtual Library Extension (VLE) - Version 1.0 to 1.3 [Release 1.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

VLE cannot be brought online to the host.

Changes

During the install and/or configuration work un-supported actions were performed against the igb0 port.

These actions might include but not be limited to the deletion of igb0, editing of igb0 using Solaris commands outside of the 'setup_network' script, etc.

Cause

The igb0 port is central to the VLE's internal communications.
This port is used for much more than just ASR traffic.
If the igb0 port altered by means other than those documented in the installation manual there is an extremely high probability that the VLE will not work properly.

Solution

DO NOT alter the igb0 port configuration by any means other than the running of the 'setup_network' or 'setup_network -dns' script that is part of the initial installation.

If you believe that a change to the igb0 port is required after the 'setup_network' or 'setup_network -dns' script has been run the first time then contact support for guidance.
