Symptoms

-  SPARC T5 system fails to power on with the system fault LED (AMBER)  turn on

- The ILOM fault management shell diagnoses the issue with the following SUNW-MSG-ID: SPSUN4V-8000-RQ

- The FMA fault class is fault.chassis.no-cpus-signed-on

For Example

    -> show faulty

Cause

This maybe not be due to HW fault, ensure that the service processor is reseated properly before opening a Hardware Service Request.

The recommend steps to isolate this issue are as follows.

STEP 1.) Power Down the platform, remove all AC inputs ( system remains unplugged for at least 60 seconds )

STEP 2.) Reseat the service processor on the System Board ( T5-2 and T5-1B ) or on the Main Module  ( T5-8 )

STEP 3.) Re-insert the AC inputs

STEP 4.) Log into ILOM fault management shell as user root (faultmgmtsp) and  clear the suspected component

Note: Kindly refer to the following documents for more information on clearing faults " How to use the Oracle ILOM 3.x Fault Management Shell ( Doc ID 1309092.1 )"

Example

faultmgmtsp> fmadm acquit /SYS

STEP 5.) then proceed to power on the platform (start /SYS)

Solution

Reseating the ILOM service processor and clearing the fault in ILOM fault management shell (faulmgmtsp) may bring the system back up.

If resolution does not resolve the issue kindly proceed to open a new hardware Service Request together with the latest system snapshot
