Cause

If errors continue after replacing the Coin Battery and clearing error messages (under ILOM Fault Management shell) multiple times (2 or more) the following troubleshooting steps need to be completed:

1.) Reseat the ILOM Service Processor (SP) and clear the error messages under the ILOM Fault Management shell:
     a.) Reseat Service Processor (SP)
     b.) faultmgmtsp> fmadm repaired /SYS/SP
     c.) Set Date/Time under ILOM (--> set /SP/clock datetime=MMDDhhmmYYYY.ss)
     d.) Reset SP (--> reset /SP) and check for errors under Fault Management shell (faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty)
     e.) If still seeing error messages under the Fault Management shell (faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty) got to Step #2

2.) Replace the ILOM Service Processor (SP) and clear the error messages under the ILOM Fault Management shell:
     a.) Replace Service Processor (SP)
     b.) faultmgmtsp> fmadm replaced /SYS/SP
     c.) Set Date/Time under ILOM (--> set /SP/clock datetime=MMDDhhmmYYYY.ss)
     d.) Reset SP (--> reset /SP) and check for errors under Fault Management shell (faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty)
     c.) If still seeing error messages under the Fault Management shell (faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty) got to Step #3

3.) Replace T5-2 Motherboard (MB) as last resort and clear the error messages under the ILOM Fault Management shell:
     a.) Replace Motherboard (MB)
     b.) faultmgmtsp> fmadm replaced /SYS/MB
     c.) Set Date/Time under ILOM (--> set /SP/clock datetime=MMDDhhmmYYYY.ss)
     d.) Reset SP (--> reset /SP) and check for errors under Fault Management shell (faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty)

Note: This SPARC T5-2 server Coin Battery failure was caused by a faulty ILOM Service Processor.

Solution

This issue can be fixed by following the above 3 troubleshooting steps (in order) after replacing the Coin Battery multiple times (2 or more).
