Symptoms

 Application logs unload errors

No specific FSCs.  Any perm error that is not a load or an unload error error to the library can cause the problem.

libraries may go into a loop during the unload if it see's unit check from the drive.  Other errors that can cause similar problems are a blank tape error or any error other than a load/unload errror from the drive.

Cause

Beginning with 1.48.112 code the drive sends unit check for any errors to the library. 9310 and L700/L1400 libraries may go into a loop during the unload if it see's unit check from the drive.  Other errors that can cause similar problems are a blank tape error or any error other than a load/unload errror from the drive.

Solution

RE48.112 code will have a code change to address this issue. Do not install the following code versions if the drive is running on a legacy library:

R1.48.112

RA48.112

RB48.112

RC48.112

RD48.112
