Applies to:IBM LTO4 Tape Drive - Version All Versions and laterIBM LTO6 Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later IBM LTO5 Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsIBM LTO - Display Panel Shows Error Code "e". CauseEncryption error. SolutionThis is the description of that error code lower case "e".
The IBM Guide only references checking the backup application that would only be the case if one were using data path encryption with the backup application. It does not take into account the use of Oracle's OKM encryption solution. If the customer is receiving this error on a drive running a backup application that is sending the encryption keys via the data path, then the backup application vendor needs to be engaged to see why the key was not sent. A drive dump should be retrieved from the drive (the dump should already be available on the drive due to the "e" error code) with the ITDT tool. If the customer is running Oracle's OKM encryption solution, the firmware on the Belisarius card should be checked. The Belisarius code should be at least 2.36.23. Should to code already be at that level or above, retrieve the Belisarius card logs using VOP. Should the drive be found that is is not receiving the encryption key, a service request should be opened with the OKM team to review the issue further.
