Customer had installed a DEM with 4 drive arrays but only 8 drives in the top array.  Upon initialization, the tallbot was seen to scan for cartridge slots below the upper drive array and throw out RC 3324 errors.

Symptoms

Messages that were seen on initialization:

2004-11-19T19:46:44.463, 1.0.0.0.0, root, default, AuditDaemon, -106, error, 3324, "Audit cannot complete due to hardware failure com.stortek.ats.elib.server.common.LcException: Robot operation failed Code: 502 - Robot can not find target", startAddress=1,1,-2,1,13 endAddress=1,1,-2,1,48

Handbot was seen to scan for slots on the 1-3 drive arrays in the DEM rather than see drive bays.

Changes

Installation of new DEM and 4 drive arrays.

Cause

Incorrect Module Identification Block sticker used to identify panel in SL3000.

Solution

Customer had 8 drives in top drive array and none in the lower ones. They had affixed the 'Triangle DRV01' sticker denoting 'Back wall 8 drives' rather than 'Triangle DRV04' denoting 'Back wall 32 drives' required. Even though only 8 drives were installed, because there were 4 drives arrays and the possibility of 32 drives, the 32 drive sticker was appropriate not the 8 drive sticker.

Module Identification Block can be changed but library needs reconfiguration. See Doc 1330987.1
