Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 7.3 to 8.2 [Release 7.0 to 8.0]
Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SL8500 had a RE (Redundant Electronics) switch over from HBCA to HBCB card;  ACSLS did not switch over to standby HBC

ACSLS reported the library LSM's as all offline;  Port showed as online.

ACSLS audit_event.log reported following errors

    cl_sm_response: LH error type = LH_ERR_LMU_FAILURE

    LSM   0, 2: Library error, LC/LMU failure

    LSM   0, 2: Offline

Changes

 Failed HBT card

Cause

Failure on HBT card.  ACSLS RE ports were not configured correctly so it did not switch over automatically to the other LMU.

Solution

1. Make sure that ACSLS has the correct IP ports configured for hbca and hbcb HBC cards:
    Run a query LMU or sql.sh ( if ACSLS is down )

          $  sql.sh "select * from porttable"

                Or,

          $ cmd_proc -l

             ACSSA> query lmu all
             2013-05-21 10:30:10                LMU Status
             ACS:   0      Mode: Dual LMU           Active Status:   -
             Partition ID:  2                       Standby Status:  -

             ACS State   Desired State
             online      online

             Port    Port State  Desired State  Role        CL
             0, 0   online      online         Standby(A)  22  10.222.122.21
             0, 1   online      online         Standby(A)  22  10.222.122.23

     Note:  This shows ACSLS only has the standby hbca ip addresses configured.
              This also shows that Dual TCP/IP feature is configured.

2. Configure ACSLS for hbcb card ip address.

    a.  Check from SLConsole, the IP addresses for hbcb and hbca cards

         Select Tools  -> System Details  -> Redundant Electronics Folder

            Select hbcb

               - Record 2B and 2A addresses if Dual TCP feature is set

            Select hbca

               - Record the 2B and 2A addresses if Dual TCP feature is set

    b.  Configure ACSLS for the existing hbcb and hbca cards

         Note:   For this configuration, IP address are 10.222.122.21, 10.222.122,23  10.222.122.22 10.222.122.24
                   and the ACS# is 0.

         $  config ports 0

                Reply with the appropriate values when prompted. For example:

                    Number of connections to ACS# 0:    4

                    Device or host - ACS#0, connection #1:  10.222.122,21

                    Device or host - ACS#0, connection #2:  10.222.122,22

                    Device or host - ACS#0, connection #3:  10.222.122,23

                    Device or host - ACS#0, connection #4:  10.222.122,24

     c. Verify if the the LMU and LSM's are now online:

         $ cmd_proc -l

            ACSSA>  query lmu all

            ACSSA>  query lsm all
