Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Unable to connect to the library via SL console.

When attempting to connect, get a message that says: Connect to the server failed or Server does not exist

Cause

- RLC card faulty.

- Port_22 is used for SL Console & CLI to establish a secure connection to the library, so make sure that they didn't enable a firewall on this port.

- Library gateway IP has not been set.

Solution

1. Inspect the network cable, unplug and re-plug it once.  If necessary,  replace cable and verify by pinging the library IP address and receiving a response.
2. Change the switch network port to ensure that there are no port related issues.
3. Port_22 is used for SL Console and CLI to establish a secure connection to the library.  Make sure that no firewalls are enabled on these port.

Should the problem persist, open a Service Request via MOS (My Oracle Support).  Refer to this Knowledge Entry and provide all error information possible.  The TSC (Technical Support Center) will analysis the issue, provide further assistance and dispatch a CSE accordingly.

4. If necessary, replace RLC card.
5. Need to verify whether the gateway has been set for this library.

In this SR, RLC card replacement and setting customer gateway IP address resolved the issue.

After RLC card replacement, the customer was able to login from his laptop connected directly to the managment port (Public) on the library. However, unable to login from their local network.

- Need to check whether the gateway is set for the library by issuing "network print" command through CLI.

- If it is set as " * " , then collect the customer's gateway IP and update the same by issuing "network gateway <gateway IP> "

- Restart the network by issuing "network restart" command.
