Symptoms

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor on Engineered Systems while trying to connect to a service configured for SCAN listener and database registration using EZCONNECT configuration for remote_listener.

Grid Infrastructure and Oracle homes not configured by one command.
Grid Infrastructure and Oracle homes modified after installation by onecommand.
Homes missing or having misconfiguration of sqlnet.ora

Cause

The system did not have a properly configured EZCONNECT string in the Grid Infrastructure nor Oracle Homes.

Solution

If using EZCONNECT format for example

remote_listener = "hostname:1521"

Then your SQLNET.ora has to have the EZCONNECT entry in it in both homes.

Configure a base sqlnet.ora if it does not exist in th network/admin directory of your home or modify your existing one to reflect at a minimum:

# sqlnet.ora Network Configuration File: /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/network/admin/sqlnet.ora

# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

ADR_BASE = /u01/app/oracle.

Then stop and restart CRS via;

crsctl stop crs

crsctl start crs.
