This document helps you to diagnose a faulty Redundant Transfer Switch (RTS) of the Sun Fire Cabinet used for the Sun Fire 6800, E6900 server

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customers will observe and amber LED on in one of the AC Power - Sun Fire Redundant Transfer Switch (RTS), or in showplatform -v or showplat -p they will see a Frame RTS failed.

Changes

 Customer's will see and amber LED in the Sun Fire Cabinet, and from from the SC the showplatform -v and showplat -p , customer will be able to see the faulty RTS

Cause

This is caused because one of the RTS of the Cabinet failed
 
showplatform -v show us the failed RTS

Frame Fan Trays
  Left Tray Right Tray
  State: OK OK
  Power LED: On On
  Fault LED: Off Off
Service LED: Off Off
  Speed: Slow Slow
Temperature: Normal Normal
  Power: OK OK
  Fan 0: OK OK
  Fan 1: OK OK
  Fan 2: OK OK

Frame RTS
Rear/Left - OK, Component Failed <<<<<<<<<< Failed RTS
Rear/Right - OK, Connected to the System
Front/Left - OK, Connected to the System
Front/Right - OK

 

Solution

Verify on site that the RTS is with an amber LED on

If no possible to physically verify the issue, SC outputs from

  • SC> showplatform -v
  • SC> showplatform -p

will show us the faulty RTS.

After verify that, is necessary to contact Oracle for troubleshoot the issue.
