SL150 Invalid Host Name Error

Changes

A change in the network host name.

Cause

The network host name has been configured with an illegal character in it.  In most cases it is a space in the name.

Solution

The SL150 will have to have a factory reset done on it.

To Do a Factory Reset on the SL150 Library:

One person will need to stand at the front of the SL150 library and one person will need to stand at the rear of the SL150 library.

The SL150 library will need to be in a powered up state.

The person at the front of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the front of the SL150 library and then the person at the rear of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the rear of the SL150 library.

The locate buttons will start to flash slowly, continue to hold in both of the locate buttons until the locate buttons start to flash quickly.

Once the locate buttons flash at a fast rate both buttons can be released and the library will do a factory reset and will re-initialize.

You now will have to go through the Initial Config Wizard in order to setup the SL150 library with a Network Host Name that doesn't contain an illegal character.

The SL150 documentation is also going to be updated at the time of the 2.0 firmware release to mention this limitation in the network host name.  The Initial Config Wizard and Web GUI will also be updated to give the same limitation info.

The following will be the limitations that we will use for the SL150 Host Name:

  • The "a-z", "A-Z", "0-9", and "-" characters are valid (that is the dash and not the underscore)
  • The host name can be up to 48 characters
  • The host name cannot start with a "-"
