Information in this document applies to any platform.
In rare cases Blades are flagging spurious errors on functioning HDDs and on non existant HDDs.

Symptoms

HDD(x)/SERVICE glow on functioning drives and on non existant drives.

 

Changes

Host reboot/reset

HDDx/FAIL event

Cause

In rare cases a host reset/reboot is causing the wrong HDD LED state

ILOM will glow HDD(x+1)/SERVICE instead of HDD(x)/SERVICE when HDD(x)/FAIL gets asserted

Solution

Workaround:

- Ignore the ILOM HDD LED state

- Use the related operating system features for HDD health monitoring
