Symptoms

RTDs would not vary online to the customer's system though path validation was successful via the VTSS panel

ECAM errors seen on customer console:

NOTE: FF00 in sense byte 10 and 11 position indicate 3590 recovery action code

Cause

RTDs are in 3590 mode instead of 3490 mode as required to be an RTD.

Solution

1. Connect to the VTSS and download the pfaelg4a.dat file and the hic_stat.dia file to the zenobia server

Run the 'crunch_it all' and 'taperpt' commands

3. Review the subsequent 'nlkout.txt' file and look for the following indication of the RTD being in 3590 mode:

4. Access the drive op panel menu and change the mode to '3490'.
