Other facts in working to resolve issue:
We have tried to upgrade sl8500 tape library for redundant handbots. The library firmware is 7.70. We powered off it. Then we installed safety door, additional rails Power Supplies (now there is 8) and additional 4 robots. After power on the library the new robots synchronized firmware, but then there was a random behavior of all robots and finally most of them didn't initialized. We have powered off the rails (using HBS) and 5 robots initialized after that, but 3 didn't.
So we decided to un-installed the new robots and after that all 4 existing old initialized successfully. The service door also worked fine - we checked it on both sides.
We checked the version of HBN card and rail terminator and they are okay.
- Do you know any idea what could be cause of that?
- Is there any procedure for installation additional 4 robots?
- Maybe any hardware activation key should be enabled ?
- We found that the library rails are very dirty - maybe it is cause of the problems ? What do you think ?
- Can we add these new robots online using safety service door or the library should be rebooted to proper recognize the new robots ?

Symptoms

Handbots not working properly after upgrade from 4 to 8 in library.

Robots fail to initialize properly.
