Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SL3000 robot arm is not detected in the backup server
Server OS: windows 2008 R2 64-bit
All drives are detecting fine.

Changes

Cause

SL3000 Configuration issue.

From the  SL console , Library status is ready and all options are Green
The customer tested the drives and server directly with any SAN switch and it is working fine.

The robot arm and drive's WWNs can be seen in the SAN switch.
This is a FC connection.

It is a interface type issue

Tools ---> Select Active Cells --> Select Active Cells --> Interface Type: HLI

Solution

1. Is this a partitioned library, if so has the FC-SCSI partition ever been set? If not, need to set the SCSI partition, refer to the Users guide, Chapter 6 (Library Partitioning). The partition screen should look as follows: It will show at least one SCSI partition. Also, make sure the partition contains the WWN and a LUN number of zero.

2. If this is not a partitioned library, then go to the 'Activate Cells' page and make sure your interface type is set to FC-SCSI, see Screen Shot below:

FC1

3. Make sure the Active cells are assigned. Follow the procedure in the Users Guide to select and activate cells.

4. FC-SCSI port speed should be 2Gb or 4Gb.

Refer to the following website for further information in the User Guide (page 83):
