Cause

This KB was generated by an ASR from the SL8500 Tape Library; If you have remote connection, get the log snapshot.

After getting the log snapshot from the library these are the alarms with their corresponding explanation.

-This means the library manager, HSC/ACSLS, closed the communication socket to the library. This can happen for a variety of reasons but most often it occurs when HSC/ACSLS is doing network recovery.

-The same version of SLC handles several different library types and this message can be ignored for the SL8500.

-Communication timeout on the ILC interface of the library which is used to talk with libraries in the same complex.

- Host Hli0 sent a move command to the library with an invalid destination address since it is an invalid address none of the library controllers would respond to this message and it would time out.



2013-03-19T12:10:38.237 1.0.0.0.0 root default internal 0 error 3906 "input packet dropped - packet dropped - duplicate sequence number"

-An Hli packet was sent to the library with a duplicate sequence number. The library assumes the original sequence number is still in process and drops the duplicate Hli packet. This usually happens when the library did not ACK the packet and HSC resends the original packet.
 

Solution

This recommendation was given by Bruce Mcdonald

Based on these error messages you would not be able develop an action plan because it is probably a symptom of others issues impacting the site. If the original problem reported by the customer is related to network recovery and losing access to the library.

Troubleshoot the library network configuration.
