Symptoms

Some T6340's with 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz x 8 Core has unexpected outage and SP event log shows

   Fault critical: "SP detected fault at time Tue Oct 27 18:17:32 2009. Host Power Failure: MB_DC_POK Fault"

Contributing Factors

T6340 systems with 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz x 8 Core and firmware prior to 7.2.4.f.

 

Cause

DC/DC converter noise problem triggers blade power shutdown.

Solution

Update SysFw to v7.2.4.f (SUNPATCH 139448-05 or later), which contains the fix to filter out noise

and prevent false power failure event.
