Fan Column Fault Being Reported Incorrectly On Exadata V2, X2-2, X2-8 Systems on Exadata Software Versions 11.2.3.2.0 and earlier due to SUN ILOM BUG Applies to:Exadata Database Machine X2-2 Hardware - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Exadata Database Machine X2-8 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Exadata Database Machine V2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Linux x86-64 SymptomsX2-2 & X2-8: Fan failures for non-existent fans on X4270M2 Storage Cells. During ILOM boot, the SP runs I2C diagnostics and believes that 2 Fan Modules (FM5 & FM6) are not present which fools it into thinking its an invalid configuration and then produces a fault for non-existent F2 & F3 on FM1 & FM3. This may result in the host server being shutdown for a fan column fault, or not be able to power it on until the fault is cleared.
ChangesNone CauseSUN / ILOM Bug 14367084 Solution1: Workaround: Manually clear the fault and the server will be able to be powered on. 1: To Clear the fan faults, and restart the host. Do not reset the SP or it may re-fail.
-> set /SYS/FB/FM1 clear_fault_action=true -> set /SYS/FB/FM3 clear_fault_action=true -> start /SYS
