Faulty tape drive was replaced but post that /dev/rmt/* file is not getting built in OS for the drive in question. CauseIncorrect drive mode selection - FICON/FC SolutionT10K drives support both FICON & FC modes to work with mainframe & open systems respectively. Upon replacement, drive mode was selected as FICON and this prevented Solaris from building device file entries for the replacement drive. Problem was cleared once FE logged into drive via VOP and selected FC mode.
