SymptomsXsigod (Xsigo Daemon) does not start on a Linux Host. CauseThis is a known problem when you have a linux host with OVN Linux host drivers installed, but for some reason either the infiniband HCA card is removed from the host or the host is unable to detect the HCA. SolutionAll the modules appear to load fine, but 'xsigod' fails to start. Here's what you'll see with 'service xsigo status':
[root@popo redhat]# service xsigo status
xsigod is not running Module vnic is loaded Module vhba is loaded Module kxsigod is loaded Module ib_mthca is loaded Module xcpm is loaded Module xsigoib is loaded
When you try to start 'xsigod' you get the following error. [root@popo redhat]# xsigod
<xsigod> main: device open failed
This is a known problem when you have a linux host with OVN Linux host drivers installed, but for some reason either the infiniband HCA card is removed from the host or the host is unable to detect the HCA. Run 'lspci' to see if the system detects the HCA. If the HCA is in the system but fails to get detected then contact Oracle Customer Support and request for an RMA of the HCA.
